I have had bread-making on my bucket list for ages. But we don’t eat a lot of bread. And it felt daunting. It’s an experiment that would probably be a flop – literally and figuratively.
However, with social distancing in effect, I am cooking things from scratch so much more. Do you find that too?
I’m noticing other people saying the same thing – that they are making more home-cooked meals then ever. It’s like we are going back in time to making more traditional foods…like homemade bread. I might be pickling and fermented veggies soon, if this continues!
There’s another reason I decided to make this easy 3-ingredient homemade bread. It’s because parents in my Raising Adventurous Eaters CLUB have been asking for it. Begging for it!
In addition to fun food exploration strategies, every month I give parents in the CLUB simple recipes to make for their families. And we do a virtual cooking class for their kids (with my kids as the sous-chefs).
This week my 4 year old Naomi and I made a 3 ingredient homemade bread. Here she is in awe of the final result. Shortly thereafter she was gnawing at half the loaf before dinner.
And my goodness, this homemade bread recipe was SO easy.
10 minutes to prep.
30 minutes to bake.
5 seconds to devour.
If you take a peek at my Instagram post you will see what I mean. I didn’t have enough time to get a photo of my older daughter’s begging for slices last night, or this morning before lunch. I never thought I would have hide almond bread from my kids (wink, wink).
One warning though. This is no Wonder Bread!
Because it’s made with almond flour it is more dense. Although it is also more nutrient-dense than 99% of other breads out there. This 3 ingredient bread does better paired with a spread like butter, coconut oil, jam, nut butter, pesto…anything goes! We even dipped it into our coconut curry last night. YUM!
If you’re worried about protein intake, this bread is right up your alley. It is loaded with protein (hello eggs, hello almonds)! There are no fillers, or unnecessary ingredients.
You will notice that it doesn’t look like bread either. That’s because at the very last minute, I realized we didn’t have the right pan to make a more traditionally sized loaf. So the 3 ingredient bread was smaller in height that I would have liked. However, it worked out in my favour!
I prefer that the kids don’t fill up on a massive slice of bread at meals. That leaves less room for other foods and more variety. So these smaller sizes ended up being the perfect size.

I do recommend getting adventurous with some herbs and spices. You can see specks of green parsley. in ours Next time I might add sun-dried tomatoes, olives, or maybe even some rosemary and oregano. Hmmm so many options.
Easy 3-Ingredient Homemade Bread
A paleo, gluten-free bread made with almond flour
- 2 cups Almond flour
- 4 eggs medium-sized
- 1 tsp Baking powder (aluminum free)
- 1/2 tsp Salt Optional
- 2 tsp dried herbs (parsley, oregano, rosemary, etc) Optional
Preheat the oven to 300 °F (150 °C).
Pre-grease a loaf pan with oil. Make sure it's well greased so that bread doesn't stick.
In a high bowl, beat the eggs with an electric mixer. Stop once it turns almost white and starts to fluff up.
Stir baking powder into almond flour.
Gently fold the almond flour and baking powder into the eggs. It's best to use a rubber spatula.
Put the dough into small loaf pan. Or form into a loaf on a baking pan.
Bake for approximately 30 minutes. It may longer depending on your oven. You can put a knife in the middle and see if it comes out clean.
