Some kids LOVE avocado, and some kids will do anything to avoid it.  If your little one is a picky eater, you’re in for a (healthy) treat today.  And so are they!

Avocado is a great food (actually it’s one of the best) if you worry about your child’s weight or their nutritional intake (most kids love their nutrient-deficient foods like pasta, crackers and cookies).  Luckily for moms, avocado is a versatile fruit (nope, it’s not a veggie) that you can mix into almost anything – smoothies, puddings, soups, AND cookies.   I wish I knew about these treats when Sienna struggled with weight gain and manipulating certain solid foods.  Most kids are carb addicts, but not my Sienna. Until recently, our little one could not chew most grains – pancakes, waffles, muffins, breads, cookies.

As a nutritionist I should be THRILLED about that, but my daughter requires more calorically-dense foods and I can get clever with carbs to give them healthy twist (sweet potato pancakes, quinoa muffins, zucchini bread, etc).

Here’s a simple healthy snack for picky eaters.

These cookies were meant to be – for my Sienna and your little ones.

They are super soft and melt in your mouth or in your hand (you have been warned!).   Whether your little one is just getting acquainted with solids (and needs something meltable), has oral motor delays, or just is a selective eater…these cookies are great.  Very little chewing is required on their part to break these cookies down in their mouth.  The flip side is that they can get messy and sticky (just in case you missed the first warning 🙂 ).
